QR Code Scanner
Scan a QR code from an image, screenshot or your camera and see exactly what it contains before opening it.
Your files never leave your device. Everything is processed right here in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Tip: you can also paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
Your browser will ask for permission. Video stays on your device.
How to use the QR Code Scanner
- Choose "Upload image" to scan a screenshot or photo, or "Use camera" to scan with your device’s camera.
- Pick or drag in the image (or paste it with Ctrl+V), or allow camera access and point it at the QR code.
- Check what the QR code contains — the full link, UPI payee, Wi-Fi details or text.
- Open the link, copy the details, or scan another code.
Scanning QR codes safely
Your phone's camera can usually read QR codes on its own, but sometimes the code is on your screen — in a screenshot, a WhatsApp image, an email or a PDF. This scanner reads QR codes from images on any device, and can also use your laptop or phone camera.
Nothing opens automatically. Many scanner apps jump straight to a link, which is risky: fake QR codes stuck over real ones on posters, parking meters and shop counters are a common scam. Here you always see the full content first, then decide whether to open it.
For UPI QR codes, the scanner shows who the payment goes to and the amount (if one is set), and lets you copy the UPI ID. It never opens a payment app by itself. Remember: scanning a QR code is only for paying. If someone sends you a QR code and says you must scan it to receive money, it's a scam.
Wi-Fi QR codes show the network name and password, so you can connect a laptop that has no camera, or simply note the password down.
Images and camera video are processed only on your device and are never uploaded or recorded. If a code won't scan, try a sharper or larger image, crop around the code, or improve the lighting. Need to make your own QR code? Use our QR code generator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a QR code from a screenshot or image?
Choose "Upload image" and select the screenshot, or simply paste it with Ctrl+V (⌘+V on Mac). The QR code is read instantly and its contents are shown below.
Is it safe to use my camera here?
Yes. The camera video is processed on your device to find the QR code and is never recorded, saved or uploaded. The camera turns off as soon as a code is found or you press "Stop camera".
Why doesn’t the scanner open links automatically?
Fake QR codes are used in scams to send people to phishing websites. Showing the full link first lets you check it before you open it.
Can I scan UPI payment QR codes?
Yes. You’ll see the payee’s UPI ID, name and amount, with a button to copy the UPI ID. Nothing opens automatically — paste the ID into your UPI app to pay, and always check the payee name there before entering your PIN.
Why can’t it find the QR code in my image?
The image may be blurry, too small, cut off, or have low contrast. Try a clearer screenshot, crop closer around the QR code, or use better lighting when using the camera.
Does it work on laptops?
Yes. On a laptop you can upload or paste an image of the QR code, or use the webcam if your laptop has one.
